What is act-so?

The Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics is an NAACP youth enrichment program designed to prepare students for college, careers, and leadership through competition, mentoship, and recognition.

The GOALS OF ACT-SO
  • To mobilize the adult community to promote academic and artistic excellence among students of African descent.

  • To recognize academic and artistic achievement among students of African descent.

  • To provide and assist students with the necessary skills to establish goals and aquire the confidence and training to contribute to society.

2022 national GOLD MEDAL winner

Jordyn Wright is a 14-year-old high school student from Houston, Texas. She is currently homeschooled and takes dual credit classes at San Jacinto College. Jordyn is the founder of J Brielle Handmade Goods, a bath and beauty company. Her company provides natural skincare solutions for teens who suffer with eczema and other skin conditions. She started her business when she was ten years old after discovering that different soaps irritated her skin.  Her goal is to promote natural self-care and young entrepreneurship.
